From this morning’s paint-out with Jan. I was struck by the contrast of the spring blossoms in the wildflower garden against the wintry trees on the horizon near the Bascom House at Shaw Nature Reserve this morning. Winter being pushed out by Spring…we had very soft light with high clouds and a hazy sun. The Reserve was full of people and noise this morning, taking its usual tranquility away. I was happy to be there in spite of all the activity. It was fun to see people enjoying the profusion of daffodils and blooming trees. There were many photographers taking advantage of the day, too. This painting is an 11×14 oil on panel. Jan was working on a view of the house with some beautiful bluebells in the foreground.
