Summer Prairie – Shaw Nature Reserve

Summer Prairie

Summer Prairie

From this morning’s paint-out with MOPAPA. This is the prairie behind the Bascom House looking from the trail. It’s a 12×16 oil on panel. There were so many wildflowers, grasses and other plants in bloom that it was difficult for me to settle on a subject. I saw Queen Anne’s Lace, Fire Pink, Yellow Coneflower, Bee Balm and many more whose names I don’t know. You can hardly go wrong choosing any Missouri prairie scene in mid Summer-just pick a shady spot to paint! Thanks for some great critiques/advice from members of the group.
