This is a figure study inspired by the paintings of Susan Lichtman. She paints contemporary figures in almost abstracted, geometric settings. Her tonal palette and subtle use of color to depict light fascinates me and I think her work is stunning. This is my first attempt at my own study. I used photos provided by family to design this composition (thanks, Nina). I really enjoyed painting this and plan to do more. The painting is a 12×16 oil on panel.
