Tom and I rolled out of bed early today instead of taking our extra hour of sleep. We watched the sun come up from West Alton, Missouri. I painted this from reference photos I took there. Lincoln-Shields was the last stop for many confederate soldiers during the Civil War.  Conditions were said to be sub-standard and many men died there from small pox on what is now a submerged island. Seems a good place to be on All Souls’ Day. The painting is approximately 8×8 oil on panel.
