Last month Tom and I hiked at Shaw Nature Reserve during a controlled prairie burn – something the caretakers do every Winter. The distant trail was closed but we could see and smell the smoke across the glade. This is a small painting done from a photo reference. The painting is 8×10 oil on panel. I called it ‘10,000 Steps’ because we wore fitness trackers and went well over that goal. I think Winter hiking is my favorite.
