Meramec River – Late Winter

Painted with MOPAPA today at Castlewood State Park on the Meramec River. The recent flooding left the banks soft and muddy. There are hints of Spring, some color in the trees, birdsong and a few brave kayakers on the river, but Winter’s palette is still dominant. This painting is an 8×10 oil on panel. I twice dropped it and it landed face down, so it has authentic river mud on the surface! Ah – plein air painting…
